The Indiana Bar Association will honor civil right leader Martin Luther King by providing free legal service on Monday, January 21.
Residents in Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson and Jennings counties can utilize a hotline by calling 1.877.378.0358 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The program is an opportunity for attorneys statewide to offer free legal consultations to members of the general public who might not otherwise be able to afford the counsel of an attorney.
"As lawyers, we are the key-holders and the gatekeepers within our judicial system," said ISBA President Douglas D. Church. "We must accept a reasonable degree of the responsibility that society owes to the underserved and as lawyers, we must provide the assistance that only lawyers can."
